COMBAT PISTOL DIAGNOSTICS

One Full Day

Prerequisite: None

Class Size: 8-12

This course will cover all the critical skill sets that we believe are required for anyone who carries a gun for self defense.

The following topics will be covered during the course:

• Safety

• Gear setup

• Fundamentals of marksmanship/3 pillars of combat shooting

• Weapon presentation

• Malfunctions drills

• Reloads (combat, tactical)

• Strong hand only

• Support hand only

• Moving off the X

  • Ammunition Requirements: 400 rounds of ammunition (approximate)

Gear List: Semi-automatic pistol, belt-mounted holster, stiff pistol belt, three magazines, magazine holders, wraparound eye protection, ear protection, water bottle

Please also note that for this course, all students must receive prior permission from VATA to work with an IWB holster setup. If a student has not previously taken a VATA course to be evaluated by an instructor, they would need to bring a belt mounted, outside the waistband setup with them to use until an instructor can determine that the student is not a safety risk and approve their use of an IWB setup. This rule has been implemented purely as a safety precaution. We, by all means, believe in training the way we carry, but we also believe the fundamentals must be sound before a student advances to an IWB carry setup, and the focus of our introductory level classes is to get those fundamentals where they need to be. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation on this matter.
